A visit to Semuliki Valley gets you caught up a junction of several climatic and ecological zones. Located right in a rift valley, with the dense ituri forest of congo to the west, the majestic Rwenzori mountains with the East, Lake Albert to the north and a hot bed rock underneath giving birth to one of Uganda’s hottest springs. Semuliki National Park is one of Africa’s most ancient forests dating back over 15,000 years. This unique valley gives presents its visitors a central African forest experience while in Uganda. Beside 2 hot springs, Semuliki also hosts albertine endermic species like dusky crimsonwing, dwarf honeyguide, Willard’s sooty boubou, Itombwe owl, red-throated alethe, a total of about 440 bird species. A visit to this park will also bring you close to over 300 butterfly species, 250 moth species and an eco system
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Semuliki and Boat cruise
Morning:Â Depart from Kampala on 5 Hour drive towards Semuliki via Mityana. We shall stop over for lunch in Fortportal and arrive at the park in about 2 hours.
Afternoon: Check into your lodge and in the National park and for a 2 hour boat cruise.
Day 2: Game Drive and Hot springs
Morning:  You’ll have a cup of coffee, carry a snack and set off for an early morning 3 Hour game drive. Keep your eyes peeled for savannah elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, hyenas,  waterbuck, warthhogs, Uganda kobs  and possibly leopards and.
Mid-morning:Â Have a snack and then head out for Chimpanzee tracking. You’ll be able to see Dent’s Mona monkeys, olive baboons, black and white columbus monkeys, red tailed monkey and more.
Afternoon:Â We’ll have lunch and head out again for a visit to the Sempaya Hot springs. This drive / walk comes with a sight of many more birds, primates and other mammals.
Day 3: Cultural Tour and Departure
Morning:Â After Breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Uganda’s endangered tribe of the Batwa people also known as the Little people of Uganda. They lived in forests between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo as gatherers but have since been helped to start life outside the forest. They will entertain you with dance and story.
Mid-morning:Â We’ll have an early lunch and depart for Kampala or Entebbe Airport. Shopping for souvenirs can be done enroute.
